This year, I’m doing something that brings together two parts of my life that mean a lot to me.
Running and helping people.
Last year, I started pushing myself more with running. Early mornings. Long miles. Too many steps on the Manitou Incline. Training days when I didn’t feel like it. There’s something about putting one foot in front of the other that reminds me that small steps turn into long miles. It’s the same mindset I bring to social media. Progress doesn’t happen overnight. It happens because you keep showing up. You know you’ve heard the manta, consistency is key. And it’s true.

So this year, I’m taking that mindset to the New York Half Marathon in March, and using it to raise funds for Shoe4Africa.
If you’ve never heard of Shoe4Africa, their work is incredible. They support health care and education initiatives in Kenya, including building a children’s cancer hospital and running programs like a Boys and Girls Club for local kids.
Why Support Shoe4Africa?
One story that really stuck with me was about an eight-year-old girl named Jerop. She watched another girl leave each Saturday for the Boys and Girls Club. Not knowing where this girl was going, Jerop decided to follow her. She ended up walking nearly two miles by herself just to see what it was all about. Jerop didn’t know anyone. She was just curious and hopeful. They welcomed her in, and now she proudly wears her Shoe4Africa gear like she belongs, because she does.

At the same time, the team is working through very unglamorous but critical things, like sewage systems for the new hospital, backup power, medical gases, and equipment. The sewage alone costs around $173,000. It’s not the type of thing people love donating to, but it’s what makes a hospital actually function.
They also support moms who arrive at the hospital with nothing, including one refugee mom who unexpectedly delivered premie triplets. Volunteers helped provide baby clothes and essentials so she wasn’t leaving empty-handed. There is no government aid safety net here. Community is the safety net.
That’s the heart behind this fundraiser.
As a “Thank You” for Supporting Shoe4Africa
As a “thank you,” I’m offering something that feels like the perfect fit with what I already do. If you donate $150 or more to my Shoe4Africa fundraiser, I’ll gift you access to one of my upcoming social media workshops.
Not as a transaction. Just as a thank you!
Because just like running, I believe small businesses and soloprenuers deserve support too. I love helping business owners who want to handle social media in-house feel more confident and less overwhelmed.
If you want to support a meaningful cause and learn something practical along the way, I’d love to have you join me.
Every step counts. Every donation helps. And every bit of community matters. Donate here.
After you donate, simply forward your donation receipt to colleen@pinksheepco.com and tell me which class you are interested in:

Thank you for supporting Shoe4Africa, and a small, woman-owned business. When they say it takes a village, it really does. Let’s support each other, and grow in 2026! Donations can be made here: https://shoe4africa.org/cause/colleen-kiernan/
